CONTENUR, the leading company in comprehensive containerisation in cities, has been selected to renew the side-loading containers in the Vitoria.
Townsfolk accessibility to the service
The Vitoria Council, together with the company FCC, which is responsible for the cleaning service in the Basque Country city, have been made responsible for the renewal of the city’s existing container fleet by the CONTENUR 3200D and 2400D side-loading models in their accessible versions.
The Vitoria Council is currently managing approximately 750 containers for paper and cardboard collection, another 750 for packaging and about 1,500 for the remaining waste.
Last summer, FCC, the services and cleaning company, undertook to “replace all its containers over the coming eight years” after winning, with the Bilbao company GMSM, the municipal tender for the management of the cleaning and waste collection contract for the city.
The Municipal Councillor for the Environment, Borja Belandia, explained that the new container model that is going to be installed in the city “guarantees accessibility and favours handicapped persons, but also the rest of the society. We are going to distribute these new containers in a sensible manner, and attempt to locate them in strategically chosen places so that any handicapped person has an adapted version close at hand. The Government, the waste collection service and the actual contractor are all working towards this goal.”
With this implementation, the CONTENUR containers are going to improve the city’s accessible offer and the number of units distributed throughout the national territory will be increased.
