Bilbao City Council and CONTENUR have signed a pioneering agreement whereby the company commits to reuse and give a second life to damaged containers that are removed from the city, allocating them to the manufacture of new containers (300 units per year between the different fractions).

Thanks to the collaboration with the company responsible for the collection of waste from the city, composed of the FCC and GMSM companies, CONTENUR can withdraw used containers and, once treated with the latest technologies in the use of plastic materials, reintroduce the material in the manufacturing process of the new containers in the city of Bilbao. As such, the City Council favours the development of sustainable measures based on the principles of the circular economy, giving a second real life to withdrawn containers.

Objective of the Circular Economy

CONTENUR, as a pioneer and leader of its market, has launched CIRCLE®, a project that includes all the company’s strategies in environmental sustainability issues, and which integrates the company’s manufacturing processes in a circular economy model.

CONTENUR is updating its strategy to make it more sustainable, seeking a development that meets today’s needs without compromising the capacity of future generations.

The company wants to continue leading the transformation of its market by offering a sustainable product, with the least possible environmental impact and that can guarantee its customers 100% recyclability at the end of its useful life.

In this way, CIRCLE® guarantees the use of recycled material at the time of manufacturing (with the use of 100% renewable energy, and the recycling of the product at the end of its use, re-including it in the value chain, and lengthening the useful life of the materials), that is, CIRCLE® gives a second real life to containers.
