The Forbes Summit Sustainability forum was held on 16th March at the Real Círculo de la Amistad de Córdoba. Its main purpose was to analyse the challenges faced in this area as well as opportunities open to the major companies around sustainability and socially responsible investment.
The forum was opened by Mr. Juan Manuel Moreno, President of the Region of Andalusia; Mr. José María Bellido, Mayor of Cordoba; and Ms. Isabel Albás, First Deputy Mayor of Cordoba, who discussed the key issues, challenges and opportunities faced by their respective regions around sustainability.
The Workshop was split into four round tables, which discussed current subjects as climate neutrality, mobility, the circular economy, the challenges of digitalisation and strategic planning.
Mr. Jesús Ajuria, Commercial Director for Southern Europe at Conteur, took part in the round table “Mobility & Circular Economy, Levers for Decarbonisation” where the emphasis was placed on “seeing sustainability as the only opportunity for increasing competitiveness” in an increasingly changing and demanding market.
During the Workshop, the attendees and sponsors, which included CONTENUR, had an opportunity to strengthen ties and talk about the latest breakthroughs to have been made in Andalusia in matters concerning sustainability and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The First Encounter of Forbes Summit Sustainability highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public sector, private sector and society in general, when suggesting consensual, participative and innovative solutions for such a complex problem as sustainability. Moreover, there has been a desire to show that Andalusia is an Autonomous Region in Spain that is committed to the environment and that it is aware of the importance of the new technologies when it comes to progressing and offering citizens a better quality of life.
