Jeddah, one of Saudi Arabia’s major port cities, has taken a decisive step towards the modernisation of its waste collection service with the introduction of CONTENUR OVAL side-loading containers. This project represents the first implementation of a side-loading collection system both in Jeddah and across the country, marking an important milestone in the development of waste management services.
The first phase of the project has involved the installation of 600 containers, progressively deployed across various residential areas in the north of the city, including its well-known coastal district.
From metal to polyethylene: a commitment to durability and sustainability
One of the most significant aspects of the project is the replacement of traditional metal containers with high-density polyethylene containers manufactured using injection-moulding technology. This transition reflects the customer’s commitment to adopting more durable and efficient solutions that are better suited to the region’s demanding climatic conditions.
CONTENUR side-loading containers offer high resistance to ultraviolet radiation and high temperatures, particularly important factors in environments such as Saudi Arabia. In addition, their excellent resistance to corrosion and wear helps reduce maintenance requirements and extend the service life of the equipment.
The project features the 3,000-litre OVAL model, a solution designed to combine high storage capacity, operational efficiency and ease of use for residents.
One of its key features is the pedal-operated opening system, which has received very positive feedback from users, as it makes waste disposal more convenient and hygienic by avoiding direct contact with the container.
In addition, the OVAL’s ergonomic design provides a simple and accessible user experience for all. Its modern appearance and smooth lines also allow it to integrate seamlessly into the urban environment.
Positive feedback from customers and residents
The initial response to the project has been very positive, both from the customer and Jeddah residents. Users have highlighted the ease of use of the new containers, the convenience of the pedal-operated opening system and the more modern and attractive appearance of the waste collection points.
With this implementation, CONTENUR strengthens its international presence and continues to contribute to the development of innovative solutions for cities committed to more efficient and sustainable urban services focused on the wellbeing of their residents.
